| Kate's need to get information out of the hostage may jeopardize her standing with Locke -- as well as with Sawyer. Called the reveal at the end, but pretty creepy nonetheless. I thought this episode was all right but nothing to write home about. |

| Decent ep, I called the ending too. Jack on the witness stand was interesting. But why's he the only one that gets to cross into other people's flashforwards? What's the significance of $3.2 Million? And why can't Daniel remember three playing cards? WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THE HELICOPTER |

I think Daniel has some sort of short-term memory loss, like Memento-style. |

| a simple explanation like "he hit his head when he got to the island; he's got a concussion..." ? he did look dazzled when he took his helmet off. slightly more disoriented than usual ... |

| are the forum quotes really hard to read for anyone else? Kinda a lame episode in my opinion. A lot of goofy sit-comy othersville life that was kinda funny. but Kates a boring character and I called the reveal pretty early on, claire talking about motherhood and all that shit. I wonder if future-Jack knows that the kid is his half nephew. The crazy thing about this episode is the book John gives Ben in the beginning is VALIS which is the book I got the name Horselover fat from, and that weird thing about pink light I wrote in the intro thread is the bare bones plot of the book. It's a really fucking obscure book and it was crazy when it showed up on screen. The book has a bunch of themes about parallel realities and the idea of a false, imprisoning realty replacing the real one. And I think that may explain how Jack wants to go back to make things right again, desmonds time traveling adventure, the time delay on the "payload", and the fact that Ben told michael to follow a specific degree to get off the island just like the schizo guy told the helicoptor pilot to follow a specific degree off the island. And now the helicopter didn't get to the ship... I think the island is a center of different realities or maybe has connections to many different times in reality. That was way over thinking lost but whatever, this season is back to oldschool lost awesomeness, even though this episode was boring and Kate-centric |

The quotes are a little hard to read, I'll try to fix it.
I love the theme of books in this show, they all have such a strong significance even if they just appear for a second. It's things like that which make the show so smart. I love the intricacies that go into the backgrounds of the script, just kind of as a little addition.
I like the idea of parallel realities, maybe separate time-lines, because I can tell you that I do not want Jack to end up the way he did at the end of season 3. |

| it might be kindof lame, though, if they pull something where none of the flashforwards will actually happen, and suddenly they're all hypothetical. |

I dunno, I like "what if" scenarios and I think a lot of other people do too. And alternate timelines don't mean that the flashforwards never happen, just that something else happens, too. I don't think that it's necessarily what's going to happen, I just like the idea of how different choices can affect an outcome. And there is a whole lot of that in Lost. |

I agree, the flashforwards have a lot of stuff thats just "not right" and the characters seem to recognize that. Its kinda like that future Heros episode but over an entire season or more. I like the Idea of the people in the future realizing that things are wrong and going back and changing them. It wouldn't mean that all of the current flashforwards are hypothetical or or didn't happen; it is the characters realizing that something is wrong and having the courage to go back to the island and change it so that the broken lives they experience do not become their reality.
Also, VALIS was written by Philip K Dick, the guy who wrote A Scanner Darkly and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (Bladerunner). He's a fucking awesome writer that I would recommend to anyone who likes LOST. VALIS is his masterpiece but I wouldn't recommend it as an into to Dick's books, its weirdness can be overwhelming to people not used to his style |
